The Redken brand of hair care has an interesting history. Co-founded in America in 1960 by actress Paula Kent and her hairdresser Jheri Redding, it was created using science which focussed primarily on protein and moisture.
While Paula Kent revolutionized the hair care industry at the time with a strategy including both science and education, her brand was created out of necessity as she suffered sensitivities and allergic reactions to the products her hair stylists and makeup artists used.
The duo devised their formulas for three initial hair products using a pH level complementing the natural pH of hair and skin and protein technology for a healthy hair and scalp. The products were marketed to professional hair care salons where educated, licensed cosmetologists could recommend them.
Throughout many years and many changes since, the world-famous brand now includes an extensive line-up of hair care collections, hair styling and colouring products for all hair types.
Is Redken shampoo good?
The definition of a ‘good shampoo’ is one which targets your hair type and condition, gently cleansing to remove dirt and impurities while leaving you hair clean, soft and shiny and not stripped of natural oils. Redken shampoos do just that.
For coloured hair Redken provide a number of beautiful shampoos, such as the Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo which provides moisture while cleansing and repairing colour-treated hair. The Diamond Oil Glow Dry Gloss Shampoo has an oil-enriched formula to provide lightweight shine to dull, dry hair while the Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-free Shampoo does exactly what the name suggests. Thin or damaged hair, flat and fine hair, distressed hair, curly hair and colour-treated hair are all catered for in the Redken range.
Pair your shampoo with the matching conditioner and hair styling products for the ultimate in healthy, happy hair that is manageable, moisturised and problem-free.
Try the High Rise Shampoo, Conditioner and the High Rise Duo Volumizer for perfectly volumized fine or flat hair. The shampoo will gently cleanse while giving lift and body; the conditioner will detangle while infusing the hair with body and bounce and the amazing Duo Volumizer is a multi-faceted styling product. The hair volumizer creates soft, silky hair with fabulous shine and root lift using a creamy serum and volumizing gel combo.
